| | | Artist Statement: I'm a self-taught artist with a few workshops thrown in. I grew up in Columbus, OH hand-making greeting cards, writing poetry and sewing gifts for family and friends. After high school, I came to the Outer Banks with friends for a vacation and found my second home and love...the ocean. At 22, I moved to Charlotte, NC, earning a BS degree in Marketing with a concentration in Corporate Public Relations. It took another 13 years to get to the Outer Banks, but it was worth it. I started my own technical recruiting business while living on Ocracoke Island. After a year and a half of isolation on Ocracoke, I moved up the Outer Banks and eventually landed on Roanoke Island. I'll never forget the year 2000. I woke up one day and said, 'I'm an artist and I miss it.' I took a couple of watercolor workshops and then took private lessons from Chris Haltigan. I was hooked and finally came back to my childhood passion. Following my watercolor training, I took an oil painting class from Jim Bickford and started painting in oils as well. I amstill a fulltime Associate broker at ReMax Ocean Realty in Kill Devil Hills, but balance my real estate life with my passion of creative writing, art, and design. |
